Meet our Founder

Ms. Eula T. Bacon, a proud resident just six blocks from the BEE Learning Center, is thrilled to contribute to a program dedicated to helping children succeed. A graduate of Florida A&M University and Cooley Law School, Ms. Bacon has been an active and passionate member of her community for many years. Her professional career includes extensive experience in nonprofit management, higher education student services, grant writing, and middle school teaching, showcasing her dedication to education and community development.
Mrs. Jacquelyn Paulk has dedicated many years to improving the lives of children and families. She played a pivotal role in desegregating the elementary school system in Sarasota and went on to establish several after-school programs, including SOAR Learning Center, which served children in the Newtown community for nearly two decades. A lifelong learner, Mrs. Paulk earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Albany State College and a Master of Education from Columbus University. Her extensive knowledge and deep understanding of how children learn have enabled her to create a unique curriculum tailored to meet the needs of the community’s children.

Tutoring Program - Reading
BEE Learning Center provides free, high-quality reading tutoring services to kindergarten through 3rd-grade students. Our program focuses on explicit, research-based reading instruction, helping children build essential skills in phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension, all aligned with state and national standards.

Tutoring Program - Math
Students participating in the program receive a nutritious afternoon snack through the Florida Health Child Care Food Program, ensuring they have the energy and focus needed to fully engage in tutoring and homework assistance sessions. This initiative not only supports academic success but also promotes healthy eating habits to foster overall well-being.

Empowering Youth Success
"Even if your kids don't want to be in the afterschool program, advocate to have them participate. They may not see the benefit at the time, but they will later. What I learned helped me pass exams in high school and college."
